Community involvement is crucial for reducing incidents
of domestic violence. In large urban settings as well
as in rural villages, strategies for combatting domestic
violence require the active and continued support of individuals
within the community. Using an interactive approach with
participants, this workshop outlines strategies for: 1)
identifying the type of domestic intervention needed for
a specific community; 2) gaining the support and assistance
of influential community residents in establishing domestic
violence intervention programs; and, 3) determining how
to sustain community run, domestic violence intervention
programs.
