Alcohol and Drug Use among
Domestic Violence Survivors and Batterers.

Eighty female residents from an urban domestic violence
shelter were interviewed to obtain information on family
histories of alcohol and drug abuse for themselves, their
families and their batterers' families. Over two-thirds
of residents cited family histories of alcohol and/or
drug abuse. Over half of the batterers' families reportedly
had drug or alcohol problems, and over half of the batterers
were reported to have past or current drug problems. |
